The Las Vegas Sign
The Las Vegas sign is a symbol of the city, one that’s been seen by millions of visitors and residents. The sign was designed to welcome people to Fabulous Las Vegas and it has served this purpose for over fifty years. It is located in the median at 5100 South Las Vegas Boulevard, north of the historic stone pillars of McCarran International Airport on the east side, and across from Klondike Hotel and Casino on west side. It’s considered as southern end of Strip. A fantastic read
The sign is a traditional roadside pole design that stands 25 feet tall (7.6 meters) and is placed offset on two flat poles that are connected at the top by a cross piece. The poles rise over the sign’s tip. The sign is shaped like a horizontally spread diamond, with pointed top and bottom angles and rounded side angles. It has a double-backing and is internally lit, with a fringe of flickering and chasing yellow incandescent bulbs. White neon circles reflect silver dollars across the top of the sign, a reference to Nevada’s nickname as “the Silver State.” Each of the circles has a red painted letter with a neon outline that forms the word “Welcome.” An eight-pointed red-painted metal star outlined with yellow neon crowns the sign, which is situated between the two poles and just under the crosspiece.

There are actually two neon signs in Las Vegas for visitors. One is on the Las Vegas Strip, and one is at the airport.
The Las Vegas Sign: A Welcome to Fabulous Destination!
Las Vegas has a lot of different attractions for tourists from all over the world. One such attraction is formally known as “Welcome to Fabulous Downtown Las Vegas” but it was changed in 2017. Why? Well, when this same replica sign got damaged by car crash that occurred in 2016, they decided not to replace it with another because it didn’t seem worth the cost becuase there’s already an identical copy elsewhere – so why have two anyways? The Welcome to Fab Downtown LV sign is at 1431 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las Vegas, NV 89104. A great post
